Wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving!
This huge turkey is counting his blessings today- he is our daughter Laura’s “pet” turkey Russell.
She couldn’t bring herself to turn him into a Thanksgiving meal!😂

What a whirlwind of a past 6 months this has been.

What a whirlwind of a past 6 months this has been. We mark the passing of time using months, seasons and holidays.

It has been almost 6 months since my mom passed away on May 28. It was late spring, the Sunday before Memorial Day. So 2 seasons (summer, fall) and 2 holidays (Memorial Day, July 4) have come and gone since her passing. Now we are on the threshold of Thanksgiving.

It makes my head spin to think that since May 28, we have gone through the process of going through a lifetime of possessions of my parents. Most of the work has been done since mid-September! It was all-encompassing. So much stuff. So many decisions. So many emotions. So time consuming.

Today, we closed the on sale of their townhouse to my friend, Cathy. I know that bringing her to this home, and the timing of everything has been God-ordained. Everything went REALLY quickly- she got an offer on her home in early November -with the stipulation that the closing had to be before Thanksgiving!!! What?!?!.

But, with the help of a lot of friends, she got packed, and we got the needed repairs done and even had most of the living area painted. All in 2 1/2 weeks!!!

My mom and Dad would be very happy to know that someone like Cathy would be the next caretaker of the townhome that they had built in 1989.

Yes, it is bittersweet.
But we all feel so very blessed.

I have a friend who is a wonderful house painter. She says that her superpower is that she is a fast (and good) painter.
I think my superpower is that I have the ability to duplicate a design over multiple ornaments. Understand that I could never be exact- no two ornaments that I hand draw are exactly alike! But I’m pretty consistent.

The beginning and middle of a batch of 1 dz ornaments that I will have for sale at the Utica Yuletide market. No preorders, and you must purchase at the market.

And no, I won’t have time to paint any more for this Christmas - too many orders still to fill.🤦‍♀️🧑‍🎨

When your daughter, who is a huge Georgia Bulldawg is able to get confetti from the national championship game, and her mom the ornament artist says, “oh, I can paint a clear ornament for you that you can put the confetti in, no problem”-AND you’ve had the confetti for months and daughter is getting a little impatient with her mom…you finally paint the ornament!

PS- I did the with Clemson natty ornaments first- the confetti idea! 🐅😃

Hi y’all!
Hope to see you at the Utica Yuletide market this coming Saturday, Nov 18 from 9 am-1 pm.

I will post more photos this week, but three of the things I’ll have for sale are “Tillman Tailgating” ornaments, Clemson snowman ornaments and this super cute ribbon Christmas tree ornaments. Any of these designs can be customized at the market for you Saturday while you shop.

I appreciate that some of you have enjoyed my posts about treasures from my moms.

Here is another one. In the back of mom’s closet, we found a box full of my dad’s old ties- and I do mean old. Somehow the wide ones from the seventies-the ones I remember my dad wearing to work, were not in this collection. They are skinny ties, and some of them had straight edges, like these. Do any of you out there know when these would have been in fashion?

I’ve always loved wearing a headband, so these straight edge ties will be repurposed into headbands!
